Welcome to the Chippenham Chess Club Website

We accept chess players from relative beginners to those of county standard and have members of similar abilities to test your mettle against. Juniors aged 12 and above are welcome.

The Chippenham club has its own internal graded competition and enters a team in the Wiltshire Minor League, which we have won in 2000, 2003 and 2004. We are a friendly group of chess enthusiasts keen to attract new members to swell our ranks and ensure the long-term viability of chess in Chippenham. The first 2 nights are free and are less than the price of a pint thereafter.

Recent News

Our postponed home match against Brown Jack took place on 31st January and resulted in a resounding win 4-0.

We won at Brown Jack 3-1 on 23rd January 2012 to go 2nd in the league.

Our previous match was a 2½-1½ loss to Swindon B who top the table.

Our first home match played on 13th December against Swindon A resulted in our second win and placed us in the top half of the table.

The club’s AGM was held at Westinghouse on Tuesday 6th September 2011, in which a vote of thanks was given to Chris Comley retiring treasurer after 30 years of excellent service.
